The New Puffco Proxy is a modular concentrate vaporizer with Bluetooth control through Puffco Connect. Its removable powered base fits into surrounding pieces, so the heating platform and the pipe or accessory around it should be identified separately. The current Pipe Kit and Core Kit are two ways to build around that newer base.
The words “New Proxy” matter. This guide covers the app-enabled generation, not the original non-Bluetooth Proxy. Some glass fits both generations, but the new electronic chamber and the Core accessory have narrower compatibility. Understanding those distinctions is more useful than assuming everything with “Proxy” on the package is interchangeable.
What changed with the New Proxy?
The newer model adds app customization, an updated 3D Chamber and a Joystick Cap within the modular Proxy format. Puffco Connect can adjust temperature, session duration, Vapor Control and lighting. The manufacturer calls the included chamber “New Proxy 3D Chamber” to distinguish it from the original Proxy component. Current Proxy Pipe Kit information.
For an owner of the original Proxy, the important questions are which surrounding pieces can be retained and which powered parts need a generation match. Glass compatibility does not prove electronic chamber compatibility. For someone new to the system, the more basic choice is whether modular pieces are useful enough to justify keeping track of the separate components.
Pipe Kit, Core Kit and accessory-only listings
| Name | What to check |
|---|---|
| Proxy Pipe Kit | Includes the powered Proxy base and a glass pipe arrangement. The pipe is a dry format. |
| Proxy Core Kit | A kit built around the newer base in a compact, glass-free surrounding format. |
| Core accessory | A surrounding accessory without the base. It is listed for the newer app-enabled Proxy, not the original base. |
| Other Proxy pieces | Identify whether the piece is dry glass, water-filtered glass or another accessory before assuming how it is filled or cleaned. |
A photograph of a complete setup does not tell you that an accessory-only box includes the electronics. Read the included-parts list. Also avoid filling a dry pipe with water because another Proxy accessory is a bubbler. Manufacturer's Proxy format descriptions · Core kit information.
New Proxy temperature presets
| Color | Default temperature |
|---|---|
| Blue | 490°F |
| Green | 510°F |
| Red | 530°F |
| White | 545°F |
These are the newer model's defaults. The older Proxy manual has different values for some settings, and customized app profiles can also change the saved settings. A color alone is not enough to compare two people's devices. Check the model and actual profile values before following a temperature chart. App-enabled Proxy manual, Heat Profile.
Think of temperature, duration and Vapor Control as separate variables. If you are learning what you prefer, change one at a time. A profile with the same temperature but a longer duration is not the same session configuration.
Using the button and Puffco Connect
The on-device interface keeps basic operation accessible: a three-second hold turns the base on or off, a single press changes the preset and a double press starts heating. The newer manual also describes holding six seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing, with a blue pairing indication.
The app adds saved profiles and other customization. Use Puffco's instructions for your phone: its support page directs iPhone users through Path Browser and the web app, while Android has its own route. Phone Bluetooth and the app or browser's permissions are separate checks when pairing does not work. Current New Proxy operating and app support.
Changing the lighting does not identify the heat setting, and a custom profile name does not tell another person its temperature or time. If you ask someone to help reproduce a session setup, share the actual saved values.
Preparing the Pipe Kit
Use the manual supplied with the actual kit. Start with a charged base and a clean, dry chamber. Load the intended concentrate before heating, close the Joystick Cap snugly and wait for the ready indication. Keep the device upright and draw gently.
The current Pipe Kit manual describes placing material on the bottom surface of the chamber. Use the instructions supplied with your actual kit when learning the loading routine. The important recurring checks are avoiding overfilling, keeping the chamber properly seated and using the correct attachment.
The base should sit fully in its surrounding piece. A poor seal and a chamber connection error are different problems: one is a fit/airpath check, the other concerns the electronic heating assembly. Trying to solve either by adding more material can make the original issue harder to diagnose.
Proxy compatibility: the details that matter
| Component | Manufacturer compatibility statement |
|---|---|
| Proxy glass pieces | The current support page says Proxy bases are compatible with Proxy glass pieces across generations. |
| New Proxy 3D Chamber | Specifically listed for the newer Bluetooth-enabled Proxy. |
| Proxy Core accessory | Only compatible with the newer app-enabled base; not the original Proxy. |
| 3DXL Chamber | A Peak Pro-family part, not a Proxy chamber. |
The glass statement should stay a glass statement. Core is not simply another glass pipe, and the new chamber is an electronic assembly. Broadening “glass pieces fit” into “all Proxy parts fit” would give the wrong answer. Exact new-chamber compatibility · Core generation restriction.
Identify your base generation before choosing a chamber. Ask for the full part name rather than “a Proxy coil,” and keep the box or a photo of its label. Color and outer appearance are less reliable than the manufacturer's model identity.
Dry pipe, water piece or Core?
The surrounding format changes what you hold, what you can carry and what needs cleaning. A dry glass pipe has no water-filling step. A water-filtered piece introduces a separate fill level and spill considerations. A glass-free Core accessory changes the handling format again, and comes with its own component instructions.
Choose the format you actually want to use. Buying an attachment because it is compatible does not mean it will improve the routine you prefer. Check that the new setup has a stable place to rest, that you can remove the base normally and that you understand which parts can be soaked. Proxy surrounding-piece comparison.
Cleaning the New Proxy
Keep quick after-use care separate from deep cleaning. Gently dry-swab residue while the bowl is warm; cool it fully before disassembly or alcohol cleaning. The current manual specifies a 20-minute soak in 90% or stronger isopropyl alcohol for the removed electronic chamber, with complete air drying and no water rinse.
Clean the base contacts and airpath with an alcohol-dampened cotton swab after removing the surrounding piece and chamber. Do not soak the base or flood its USB port. Clean glass separately according to the piece's instructions, then dry it fully before reassembly. Component-specific Proxy cleaning reference · Recommended cleaning solution.
Core requires its own cleaning steps. Its removable mouthpiece and terp pearl can be soaked as directed, but the Core cup is spot-cleaned rather than soaked. Do not apply a glass-cleaning method to a different material just because both pieces surround a Proxy base.
Charging, battery use and Boost
Current New Proxy support describes roughly two hours for a full charge and around 15 sessions depending on heat settings. The older Proxy's support article gives a different charging estimate, which is another reason to keep the generations distinct.
Boost extends a session and increases heat, so repeated use changes the workload on a charge. A shorter runtime after changing the profile does not automatically establish a battery defect. Note the settings you actually use when comparing battery behavior. Puffco says not to initiate more than four heat-ups consecutively.
New Proxy troubleshooting
| Symptom | First check |
|---|---|
| Red-white chamber error | Cool, remove and clean the chamber; dry completely and reseat. Persistent errors need manufacturer support. |
| App will not pair | Confirm that the base is the app-enabled generation, then check pairing mode and phone/browser permissions. |
| Poor seal in a surrounding piece | Confirm the piece is compatible and the base is fully seated. Do not force an unsupported attachment. |
| Residue outside the chamber | Check loading, upright use and the airpath before adding heat or more concentrate. |
The manufacturer identifies red-white flashing as a chamber connection problem. That symptom does not mean every Proxy part needs replacement. Proxy chamber-error guidance.
New Proxy, Pivot or Peak Pro?
The New Proxy emphasizes a removable base and surrounding-piece choices. A Pivot puts its own chamber and direct mouthpiece in a compact pen format. A Peak Pro uses a dedicated rig base with a glass top and a different chamber family. Shared app branding or chamber terminology should not hide those differences.
For a fair comparison, include the exact kit, attachments, charging needs and replacement chamber. Avoid comparing an accessory-only Core or chamber price with a complete device. Also consider how often you will actually change formats; modularity is useful when the alternatives suit your routine.
Common New Proxy questions
Can my original Proxy use the new chamber?
The new chamber listing restricts it to the Bluetooth-enabled New Proxy. Do not use cross-generation glass compatibility as evidence that the chamber fits.
Does Core work with the original Proxy?
No. Puffco specifically lists Core for the newer app-enabled base.
Is this a “Proxy Pro”?
Puffco calls it the New Proxy and says there is no separate Proxy Pro model in this comparison. Use the manufacturer's exact name when researching parts.
Does the electronic chamber vaporize dry herb?
The powered chamber discussed here is for concentrates. A separate flower-bowl accessory should not be confused with turning that chamber into a dry-herb heater.
