PAX FOUR is a portable dry-flower vaporizer with a hybrid heater, four heat modes, a redesigned oven and a USB-C port on the device. It is a distinct model from FLOW, PLUS and the two MINI generations. Its name should not be used as a shortcut for assuming that an older PAX insert or lid fits.

The practical questions are how its controls work, what its format adds to your routine, which parts are shared and which instructions apply when it needs care. This guide draws on PAX's FOUR-specific product and support information; it does not invent a hands-on comparison or promise a particular result.

Where FOUR fits in the PAX range

Compare FOUR if you want a dry-flower portable with simple on-device adjustment and direct USB-C charging. The format still involves preparing material, loading a chamber and keeping its passage clean. If a prefilled pod is what you have in mind, that is a different type of device.

Think about the routine beyond the first draw. Will the device be used at home or carried in a case? Where will it cool after use? Do you want a smaller MINI body, a FLOW side-opening oven, or the concentrate-insert option documented for PLUS? Those questions can narrow the choice more usefully than treating a model number as an automatic ranking.

PAX FOUR features, explained

FOUR-specific reference details
Detail Why it matters
Material Dry flower. PAX explicitly excludes its concentrate insert for FOUR.
Heating system Hybrid heater with an oven design specific to this model.
Heat control Four modes selected directly on the device.
Charging USB-C cable connects to a port in the device.
Included essentials The current package lists mouthpieces, screens, Multi-Tool, brush and charging cable.

See the manufacturer's FOUR model page. It presents a comparative vapor-production claim, but the percentage is not a personal result we can promise or an independent Cloud 9 test. The useful starting facts are the material, oven design, controls and parts you will actually use.

Size and the difference between specification and fit

PAX publishes FOUR's dimensions as 107.5 × 36 × 26.7 mm. Its material information identifies a stainless-steel oven and vapor pathway, with a heater construction described separately from the older PAX grouping. This helps identify the model; it does not make the device suitable for every pocket, holder or third-party case.

When comparing carrying options, allow room for the actual mouthpiece and any accessory you intend to transport separately. A case matching an older model's height alone may not account for the FOUR body shape. PAX materials and dimensions reference.

Preparing the oven and learning the ready signal

PAX's FOUR startup explanation describes a medium-fine grind, filling the oven and gently settling the material without overly compressing it. That wording matters: the firm-pack instruction found in a MINI 2 or PLUS guide should not be copied into every PAX article as if all ovens behave identically.

Before powering on, identify the correctly fitted screen, lid and mouthpiece. Select the mode and wait for the ready indication. Keep the first comparisons simple by maintaining one preparation and changing one setting at a time. If a draw feels different after changing several variables, it becomes harder to know which change mattered. Follow the FOUR startup explanation and the current FOUR Quick Start Guide supplied by the manufacturer.

How to select the four heat modes

With FOUR powered on, short presses move through the four choices. Wait three seconds or shake the device to set the selected mode. PAX's specific support article notes that higher modes can consume more battery while producing more vapor.

A mode is a setting to learn, not a universal recommendation. Preparation, draw style and how far a session has progressed can affect what someone notices. Record the selected mode when asking for help so a support answer can distinguish a control question from an airflow or maintenance issue. FOUR heat-control instructions.

Shared screen, specific lid: identifying replacement parts

What is and is not established for FOUR accessories
Component Documented fit
PAX 3D Oven Screen PAX lists FOUR together with PAX 2, PAX 3, PLUS, MINI and MINI (2) for this named screen.
Oven lid and mouthpieces The FOUR accessory family identifies its own lid, flat mouthpieces and raised mouthpieces.
FLOW and FOUR water-pipe adapter The exact adapter listing identifies FOUR, FLOW and ERA, with 14 or 18 mm glass fit.
PAX concentrate insert Excluded by the FOUR model page; do not treat a shared screen as evidence the insert fits.

Check the 3D screen compatibility, FOUR-specific accessory family and the exact FLOW and FOUR water-pipe adapter. Parts compatibility is a relationship between an exact component and an exact model, not a property of the brand name.

Charging: what to check before replacing the device

FOUR's charging connection is direct USB-C. If there are no charging lights or it is not approaching a full charge as expected, PAX's support page suggests checking secure connections, trying another cable and testing a suitable different power source. It also explains that charging time depends on the cable, adapter and supply.

Change one part of the setup at a time so you can identify the difference. Note whether the same cable and supply previously worked with this exact device; a cable charging a different low-power item does not prove it is giving FOUR the intended arrangement. Follow the rating in the manual and use FOUR charging troubleshooting for persistent problems.

Keeping airflow consistent

If the draw changes over time, compare the packing, selected mode, mouthpiece and screen condition before assuming the heater has changed. The manufacturer's FOUR vapor guidance identifies preparation, loading and drawing as relevant variables and suggests allowing time between draws.

For a useful check, begin with the unit cool and its components correctly seated. Clear spent material and inspect the screen and passage under the appropriate instructions. Then compare one consistent preparation. This is a way to make a symptom easier to describe; it does not guarantee that cleaning will resolve every fault. FOUR vapor-production support.

Cleaning and screen care

Switch the device off and let the oven cool before removing parts. PAX's FOUR product page specifically calls for a cooling interval, and its screen support page explains removing the 3D screen using the Multi-Tool or the documented brush route. Treat the powered body, lid and removable screen as separate components when deciding how to clean them.

PAX's linked cleaning guidance distinguishes wiping the oven from cleaning removable parts, and specifically excludes immersing the oven lids. Allow cleaned parts to dry completely before reassembly. Follow the current PAX cleaning guidance linked from the screen support page together with the FOUR guide, rather than treating a photo of a soaking screen as permission to submerge the device.

Orange/red lights and the temperature warning

FOUR's normal warm body and a temperature-warning shutdown are different observations. PAX describes all four petals pulsing orange/red and the unit shutting off as its high-temperature warning. Its FOUR-specific support page says to allow 30 minutes of cooling before powering on again.

Record the complete sequence, including whether the device shut down, instead of describing it only as “orange lights.” The manufacturer suggests shorter sessions, powering off sooner or a lower mode as applicable. Do not use repeated resets to work around a temperature warning. If it recurs or the device appears damaged, contact support. FOUR orange-LED warning.

When a factory reset is the relevant step

The manufacturer's FOUR reset procedure starts with the device on, then a seven-second hold of the power/control button. Five white flashes confirm the reset. Keep that separate from selecting a heat mode or waiting for a hot device to cool. A reset restores settings; it does not repair a broken lid, charging cable or physically damaged body. FOUR reset instructions.

Common PAX FOUR questions

Does FOUR use the PLUS concentrate insert?

No. The FOUR manufacturer page explicitly excludes that insert.

Can a FLOW accessory ever fit FOUR?

Yes—the named FLOW and FOUR water-pipe adapter lists both. That does not establish shared lids, mouthpieces or all other accessories.

Are four heat modes the same thing as four exact selectable temperatures?

The support instructions describe choosing modes on the device. Use the current manual for the exact behavior; do not invent a degree-by-degree control system from the mode count.

Where can I ask about a replacement part?

Contact your nearest Cloud 9 with the FOUR model name and exact part. Current store availability is separate from this educational guide. Explore published dry-herb guides for related formats.
